Leonard Cerullo Career

Cerullo was an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at Northwestern University Medical School and later served as the department’s Acting Chief of Neurosurgery from 1984 to 1986.

He was also a co-medical director at the Neurologic & Orthopedic Hospital of Chicago (NOHC), which opened in 2003 and was originally known as the Neurologic & Orthopedic Institute of Chicago. Cerullo taught at Rush University Medical Center.

Cerullo established CINN in 1987, and he started working at Rush Medical College in 1998. In 1999, he was given the position of professor and head of the neurosurgery department at Chicago’s Rush University Medical Center. Chicago television celebrities Tim Weigel and Theresa Gutierrez are among his notable patients. In multiple occasions, Castle Connolly has included him on their lists of “Top Doctors” for Chicago Magazine’s “Top Doctors” special issues.

Cerullo is well-known for alleviating discomfort in the back and neck. He was an early adopter of the Gamma Knife in the Midwest for the non-invasive treatment of brain cancers in 1989. He was an early proponent of Gamma Knife surgery and a pioneer in the field of neurosurgery.
