Douglas Mann Career
Mann’s study on the cellular and molecular underpinnings of heart failure has revealed an essential role for innate immunity in the course of heart disease. Following cardiac injury, he demonstrated that the heart expresses pro-inflammatory cytokines, and that this expression matches the heart failure phenotype in experimental models.
Mann has transferred his observations from fundamental research into clinical phase I and phase III trials that target inflammatory pathways in heart failure.
